Ultimate Review of 2023
Introduction
This blog is a review of the year-long adventure of growth, discovery, and enjoyment as the seasons changed. Every day presented a new opportunity to connect with nature and relish the rewards of my effort, whether it was developing a vibrant garden, experimenting with fermentation, trying out new dishes, or touring the lovely countryside. It had been in my brain for many years, but I only began this adventure formally last year. You can read about my gardening practices on this blog, which offers a variety of flavors.
I also strive to document my cooking processes because I don’t believe in recipes but rather in methodology. I talked about my experiences producing different sauces, experimenting with different spice combinations, and preserving my produce through fermentation and pickling. I enjoyed and learned a lot on this journey. Every day has become a new day, filled with excitement and passion. Hope you enjoyed my vlogs too.
Gardening Bliss in Review
The pleasure of planning and establishing a variety garden kicked off the year. The climate in my area might be hard, but with careful planning and the correct plant choices, the garden thrived. Tender shoots appeared in the early spring. I used to start my seeds in the house.
In the cold weather of early spring, elevated gardens are the best planting location. I prefer them with hoops on them. At this time, green leafy veggies are the finest alternative. Vegetables like tomatoes, peppers, and zucchinis joined the parade as the days grew warmer, promising a rich harvest.
Fermentation Adventures
During the height of summer, I immersed myself in the realm of fermentation. With an abundance of garden produce, I experimented with sauerkraut, kimchi, and pickles. The fermentation process not only preserved the harvest but also added a symphony of tastes to my meals. Tangy, probiotic-rich dishes become dinner table favorites, giving richness and nourishment to each meal.
Culinary Creativity
As I experimented with new techniques of cooking inspired by seasonal vegetables in hand, the kitchen became my playground. From colorful garden-to-table salads to hearty stews with root vegetables, each dish was a celebration of the Earth’s wealth. Although I dislike baking, baking sessions occasionally filled the house with the perfume of freshly grown herbs and fruits, transforming everyday moments into gourmet joys.
I shared some of my techniques here in these blogs. And for sure the person I am is, will keep on sharing my new ideas with you guys in the coming days.
Around Us
In this section I tried to share my life experiences through my vlogs and blogs. I shared information about pond upkeep, building my own raised beds making hoops, and managing trellises in different blogs. I went into the gorgeous countryside to get away from the rush and bustle.
I went to Lancaster Pennsylvania and tasted a lot of Amish food, especially their freshly made ice cream. The Amish have a rich historical culture and traditions that have always impressed me. Aside from food, I like their furniture.
In short, nature hikes and picnics allowed me to appreciate the changing seasons while reconnecting with the simplicity of country life. Whether it was apple harvesting in the fall or a snowy winter environment, each journey to the countryside left an unforgettable impact on my psyche.
Lessons Learned
My gardening, fermenting, cooking, and countryside adventures taught me significant lessons throughout the year. Among the numerous takeaways were patience in caring for plants, humility in the face of unexpected weather, and the satisfaction of tasting the rewards of one’s effort. The interconnection of these activities formed a calming rhythm, instilling gratitude for nature’s cycles and the ability to nourish both body and spirit.
I intend to improve my blogs and vlogs in the future since I feel that learning should never cease. Every day contains unique teachings; we only need to be receptive to learning and absorbing.
